Issue Position: Broadband Access

Issue Position

Expand access to high-speed broadband for all areas in Kentucky. Improving broadband infrastructure can spur innovation, entrepreneurship, and productivity. Urban areas have access to high-speed internet while rural areas struggle. The Center for Business and Economic Research notes that only 8% of Kentuckians have high-speed internet when compared to the U.S. average of 37%. The Kentucky Wired initiative should be supported and expanded so that more rural communities have access to faster internet speeds. However, the program has been plagued by cost overruns and slow implementation.
